We are looking for a purchasing agent at Strathmore to provide support to operations by ensuring materials are ordered promptly, as per specifications and budgetary requirements. Liaise with external suppliers and develop effective working relations with all key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
-
Place purchase orders for raw materials and miscellaneous supplies according to the production schedule as well as according to predetermined inventory levels, at the best price
-
Notify Account Management and Operations on overdue commodity issues
-
Work closely with the Operations team for non-conformities caused by non-compliant raw materials and also coordinate returns to suppliers
-
Evaluate suppliers based on established criteria, promised dates, and product quality, as well as compliance with environmental standards and Strathmore's corporate values
-
Identify alternative raw materials in collaboration with the Account Management and Operations department
-
Promote a high inventory turnover rate

Participate in improvements to Strathmore's management software (Aspire)

2 years experience in purchasing/procurement (mandatory)

DEC in GOP or other relevant fields
-
2 to 5 years of experience in a similar position in the manufacturing, construction or similar field (landscaping experience an asset)

Bilingualism, spoken and written (French and English)

Good negotiation and persuasion skills

Good knowledge of economic news and market trends

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to establish strong partnerships with suppliers

Flexibility and ability to adapt and manage change

Knowledge of supply management and manufacturing, construction or similar (landscaping experience an asset)

Good knowledge of the Office Suite or Google (and advanced skills with Excel)
